Common questions

Why is the chart showing a date two days ago?

Satellite temperature and chlorophyll publish about two days behind. The app opens on the most recent day that actually has data rather than on today's date, so the chart is never blank. Tap Latest to jump back to it at any time.

Why is a bar marker orange?

Orange means we do not have a current report — either the station is unmanned, or the last report is more than twelve hours old, or we have not been able to reach the feed. It is not a condition. Three stations on this coast are unmanned and their last report is over a year old, and showing a stale "no restrictions" in green would be the most dangerous thing this app could do.

Is the bar report official?

No. It is republished from the National Weather Service Portland office. The Coast Guard broadcast and the recorded phone line are the authority. Every report in the app carries the recorded number for that bar — use it.

I subscribed but the chart is still locked.

Reload, or sign out and back in. The entitlement is read from our server and can take a few seconds to arrive after checkout. If it persists, email us.

How do I cancel?

Account menu → Manage subscription. That opens Stripe's own portal, where you can cancel or change your card without going through us.

How do I delete my account?

Account menu → Delete account. It deletes everything and cancels any subscription immediately. It cannot be undone. See the privacy policy for exactly what is removed.

Does it work offline?

With a subscription, yes. Every layer downloads in the background once you sign in, and the chart draws the same offshore as it does at the dock. Live vessel positions are the exception — there is no such thing as an offline position report.

Safety

Bluewater is a planning tool. It is not a chart plotter, it is not a substitute for a marine radio, and it does not know what the water is doing right now. Decisions about whether to cross a bar belong to you, the Coast Guard broadcast, and the recorded line.
