If you never sign in, we collect nothing about you. The chart works, and no account exists.
If you sign in, we store three things, and only these three:
Sign-in is delegated to Google or to Apple. We never see, receive or store a password. If you sign in with Apple and choose to hide your address, Apple gives us a relay address instead of your real one; that works everywhere in the app, and we neither know nor need your real address.
We do not collect location. The app contains no location code and requests no location permission. Pins you drop on the chart are yours alone — they are held on your device and never sent to us.
We do not collect analytics, usage data or diagnostics. There is no analytics SDK, no crash reporter and no advertising identifier in the app. We do not track you, we run no advertising, and we sell nothing about you to anyone.
We record the time of your most recent request, so we can tell which accounts are in use. That is a timestamp on your row, not a log of what you looked at.
Subscriptions are handled by Stripe. Payment happens on Stripe's own pages, in your browser. We never see your card number and it never passes through our servers. We keep an identifier for your Stripe customer record so that a returning subscriber is not charged twice.
Nowhere. We do not share, sell or transfer your information to anyone. The only third parties involved are the ones you can see: Google or Apple, who authenticate you, and Stripe, who take payment.
You can delete your account from inside the app or from the website, at any time, without asking us. Open the account menu and choose Delete account.
Deleting removes your row entirely — email, name, provider identifier, all of it. Any active subscription is cancelled immediately at the same time. Stripe retains the invoices for payments already made, because those are financial records with their own legal retention requirements; we keep no copy of them.
The ocean layers, bathymetry, bar reports and vessel positions come from public sources: NOAA CoastWatch, NOAA NCEI, the National Weather Service, PMEP, and publicly broadcast AIS. None of it is about you. Vessel positions are shown as broadcast, and are aggregated wherever showing them individually would identify a particular boat's grounds.
Bluewater is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13.
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be announced in the app.
